A group of McPherson and Marion County residents want to form a Santa Fe Trail Association chapter in McPherson and Marion counties. About 30 people met Nov. 17 in Canton for an organizational meeting.
The Technology Excellence in Education Network (TEEN) hosted an open house Sunday in Marion, Centre, Hillsboro, Herington, and Peabody high schools. The dedication included written messages from Sen. Bob Dole, Sen. Nancy Kassebaum, and Gov. Joan Finney.
The Halstead Fine Arts and Crafts Council has announced that Lyndon Hett of Marion will show wheat sculpture at their festival Dec. 4.
Doug and Michelle Regnier hosted a family party at their home Sunday in honor of the first birthday anniversary of their son, Randy. The group enjoyed refreshments of "101 Dalmations" cake, ice cream, and drinks.
Students on the Garden City Community College criminal justice team recently competed at the ACIA/LAE Regional Competition in Colorado Springs, Colo. Michel Soyez, Marion, competed against the more than 150 competitors representing two- and four-year colleges from four states.
Students recognized Thursday during the Marion County Academic Awards program for consistently outstanding academic achievement included Hannah Bennett, Elly Barta-Moran, LeAnn Hiebert, and Danielle Longhofer of Marion High School and Anneliese Ebaben, Rita Stuchlik, Travis Rindt, and Kelly Lueker of Centre High School. Tabor College hosted the event.
