Marion Ampride store manager Brenda Slifer presented 12 five-pound hams to community Christmas volunteer Diane Hett on Thursday. A portion of fuel sales during the holiday season paid for the hams. They were used to prepare food boxes for families as part of the community Christmas project. A total of 43 families received toys and food boxes through volunteer efforts. Organizers said they were running low of funds despite the many donations. A Lincolnville farmer, who wishes to remain anonymous, donated $1,000 to the group on Monday so all the struggling families would have a merry Christmas.

Dear Santa: My name is Tommy. I am five years old now and I go to preschool. I like to color pictures, cut paper and I really like to have stories read to me. I have a new black puppy her name is Sally, she likes to play with my kitty Jingle Bells. I try to be good but it is really hard to do. I like to play outside and I like to go fishing. For Christmas I would like a remote control backhoe, a new Buzz Light year and some games. I will leave you some cookies and milk. You are my good friend. Love, Tommy Tajchman.
