Brenda McGinness of Marion always dreamed of owning and operating her own business. That dream came true in 1991 when she and her husband, David, purchased Kraft Korner, a small arts and crafts store in Marion. Recently they moved the business from First and Main to a location two blocks east, the site of the former Quality Food Market in the Masonic Building.

The golden wedding anniversary of Charles and Blanche Cowan will be celebrated at an open house Saturday, Feb. 10, at the home of their daughter, Marsha Cowan, Roeland Park. Some of the home-students who visited the Marion County Record office Friday were Ruth, Greta and Lance Kliewer, Mollie, Cathy, Darcie, and Micah Mashburn, and Paul and Aaron Herbel.

Mary Smith hosted a dinner Friday followed by dessert of birthday cake and ice cream in honor of Royal Smith's birthday. Guests were Jalynn Smith of El Dorado, Jo and Gary Hett, Jared, Jason and Jordan and Jandee and Pat Moore and Amber.

Candidates for 1996 Marion High School Queen of Courts are Jenny Groening, Kim Hajek, and Mattie Christiansen. King candidates are Jesse Bowers, Chuck Maggard, and Josh Cooper. The ceremony is set for Friday during half-time of the boys' varsity basketball game against Sacred Heart. Little helpers are Jake Bredemeier and Alycia Pontious.

The 60th birthday of Rodney Williams was celebrated Saturday at a surprise party at his home in Florence. The party was hosted by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
