Good news for sports fans! Marion will be the home of a talented semi-pro baseball team this summer. Tony Woodall of Marion, the talented pitcher and manager of the Lindsborg Black Sox, announced to the Marion City Commission on Monday that the team will move its franchise to Marion this year.

Galaxy buys Marion Cablevision and more television channels are coming with the new ownership. However, it will be several more months before the new channels appear on your television screen.

Deputy Marion County Clerk Carol Maggard has announced her intention to file for the Republican nomination for county clerk. Clerk Marquetta Eilerts, who has been with the clerk's office since 1985, will not be a candidate for re-election.

Christian Lawler, Lacie May, Sarah Versch, Audra Waner, Sarah Goodin, and Tasha Pierce were recent incentive award winners at Florence Middle School. Students who maintain good grades, attendance, and citizenship are entered in a drawing for a prize provided by FMS PAC.

A new restaurant called "Aunt Matilda's Pantry" has opened in Marion. Located at 1204 E. Main, it specializes in Mexican and American food. Owners of the business are Brian and Madonna Hedgecock, who moved to Marion in September.

Marion High School junior Lisa Zogelman has been selected as student of the month by the Marion High School faculty. She is the daughter of Pat and Mary Zogelman of Florence.

To celebrate their 25th anniversary, and show their need for a new defibrillator, Marion-based EMS crews will hold an open house Saturday.
