The Kansas State Historical Society was given preliminary approval to renovate Marion County Courthouse, county commissioners learned Monday at their meeting.
Marion City Commissioners agreed Monday to proceed with an addition to the Marion Fire Department building. The addition would house the police department.
A reception March 26 honored Charlotte Thies, a recent graduate of Emporia State University. The event was held at the home of Betty Sanders with Marge Summervill assisting.
Technology Excellence in Education Network board of directors extended the contract of director Sharon Tatge at their March 22 meeting.

Students in John Moore's technology classes designed and built mousetrap-powered vehicles for pulling contests March 21-22. Grades were based on place in the contest, but top winners received prizes donated by local businesses.
Larry King and Thad Meierhoff were installed as new members of Marion Lions Club March 23 at the meeting of the club at Stone City Café.
A "Wheels for Life" bike-a-thon for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be held Mary 13 at Florence. Ben Box will be the coordinator.
