Marion County Improvement District No. 2 board members Frances Smalley, Ken Vinduska, and Sherman Kelsey joined County Commissioner Linda Peterson at a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday at the district's pump station.

Marion Christian Church was the setting July 29 for the wedding of Tammy Jean Cook and Bill Bradford, both of Marion.

Births announced in this week's issue are: a son, Kyle Wesley, to Rick and Renee Schwendiman of Beaufort, S.C., and a son, Kyle Eric, born to Brent and Briana Methvin of Lincolnville.

William R. Snelling took third place overall in the Nebraska Combat Rifle Skills competition held recently at Hastings, Neb. He is the son of John and Betty Snelling of rural Marion.

Marion High School football and volleyball teams will hold their annual soap scrimmages Friday.

Graduating members of Leadership Marion County 1995 were honored Monday with a dinner and reception at Olde Towne Restaurant in Hillsboro. Class members are Reuben Feuerborn, Carol Maggard, Stuart Meador, Pam Meador, Pat Ash, and Brad Putter, all of Marion; Coleen Koop, Todd Vogt, and Tom Kaufman of Hillsboro; and Peggy Jay of Goessel.

Peabody United Methodist Church and Peabody Community Living Center are benefactors of the estate of the Kieler sisters, Margaret and Annah. The principal bequests were $146,253 to each, plus $500 to Prairie Lawn Cemetery. The sisters were school teachers.
