One of the most popular groups to appear on the Luta Creek Stage in Central Park is the Alferd Packer Memorial Sting Band and it will perform again this Saturday. This is the final performance for Summerfest '95.

Rob Cooper began Aug. 12 as the main court services officer in Marion Country, overseeing some 80 adults and 40 juveniles assigned probation by the district court.

Rowena Plett has joined the staff of the Marion County Record. She will be covering the northern part of Marion County, the Centre School District, and feature stories as they come to her attention.

Ona Griffith was selected as "Sunflower Sweetheart" and Ivanlee Tim as "Mr. Nice Guy" in a contest recently sponsored by the Flint Hills North Central Area Agency on Aging through the Marion Senior Center.

Florence Chamber of Commerce members hosted a surprise birthday party Sunday evening at Stone Haven Bed and Breakfast for Maxine Bennett, who prepares the entree for the monthly noon gathering of the chamber. The evening meal, a buffet, was prepared by Linda Eshelman, owner of Stone Haven. It was followed by a decorated cake for "Chef Bennett."

Ruth Ann and Joyce Carlson of Lincolnville received the Farm Family of the Year award Saturday evening during the annual Farm Bureau meeting.

Triple H Construction of Marion installed a new scoreboard at Marion Stadium this past week. Located in the same place as the old scoreboard, the new one is far larger, yet simpler to operate because of its computerized controls.
