1999 CHS grad undergoes bone marrow transplant years ago
Matt Warta, a 1999 Centre High School graduate, was diagnosed with leukemia in August.
He is recovering from a bone marrow transplant received the end of October at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City.
Warta is living in Merriam while going to the hospital's clinic two or three times a week for tests and treatments. He is hoping to be able to go home in two months, although treatment will continue for a year. His parents, Rocky and Jean Warta, are from Herington.
Warta said although he still feels weak, he is feeling better every day and is hoping for a complete cure. He can be contacted at Homestead Studio Suites, Room #128, 6451 E. Frontage Rd., Merriam KS 66202; phone 913-236-6006, ext. 1762; or mwarta@msn.com
