Marion has seen businesses start up, close down, move, or expand during the year 2002.

New businesses are Hiway 56 Auto/Truck Wash north of U.S.-56 at the north edge of Marion, The Outlet used furniture/repair store at 1204 E. Main, and Harrington Photography at 330 E. Main.

Country Inn underwent expansion, owners of Elgin House Apartments developed a bed and breakfast suite, and Suffield Heating and Air Conditioning added a retail business, which opened in the former Marion Hardware building.

Karstetter and Klenda moved their law offices into the Baldwin Law building at 318 E. Main.

The Leith brothers moved their tire and repair service from Main Street to the former Co-op service center on Third Street and named it Leith, Inc.

Marion Equipment, Inc. changed its name to Deer Trail Implement, Inc.

Changes have already begun in 2003. As of Jan. 3, Hett's Repair is open for business at the former Becker Tire building at First and Main. Dawn Herbel has purchased a franchise with Jackson Hewitt Tax Service and will operate out of the same office as the former Tax-Plus at 329 E. Main.
