Pam Vinduska, Marion County Record reporter-photographer, was notified this week that she has received first honorable mention in the third annual Edward Steichen Memorial Awards, national competition in photography. Her winning entry was in news photo competition.
All five members of the Marion board of education present Monday voted in favor of the proposal to welcome both Circle High School and Berean Academy into the Cottonwood Valley League.
Verlin G. Meier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Meier of Marion, has been named to the new position of Enhanced Recovery Miscible Manager for Cities Service Oil Co. at Tulsa, Okla. He formerly was manager of the company's Midcontinent Northeast Region at Charleston, W.Va. The Meier family will move to Tulsa this week.
The Marion High School graduating class of 1927 celebrated its 50th anniversary Sept. 23 with a banquet at St. Mark's Activity Center. There were 20 members of the class present out of the original 43. The invocation was given by Alva Haizlip. Ruby Haizlip acted as toastmistress, with reminiscing by Margaret Wolf.
A beef sale at Quality Food Market has the following prices: fresh cut round steak, $1.29 per pound; boneless Pikes Peak roast, pound $1.09; rump roast, pound 98 cents; Fanestil's Blue Stem all meat bologna, sliced, pound 79 cents; Fanestil's fresh pig links, pound $1.19; and Winchester's finest sliced bacon, pound, $1.20.
