One of the biggest orders to be filled at Master Crafts, owned and operated by Bill Wray, has been in the making since early February. The business has a government contract to deliver utility tables for use at U.S. Corps of Engineers recreation areas such as Marion Reservoir. Almost half the order, 3,220, have been built so far. Helping Wray have been George Galliart, Ladd Helmer, Darrel Helmer, Mike Holub, and Norman Plenert.
Girls selected by the American Legion Auxiliary as delegates to the 36th session of Girls' State are Pat Fruechting, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fruechting; Marg Kerns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kerns; and Donna Stovall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stovall. Annette Nienstedt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nienstedt is alternate.
Pat Swartz, 25-year-old graduate of Emporia State University, will be the principal of Florence school buildings next year. He will replace Jim Donohoe, who is presently serving in that capacity.
James Holub of Marion was honored, along with 18 other Kansas State University seniors in engineering, by being inducted into K-State Knights of St. Patrick. Students selected to Knight of St. Patrick have been outstanding leaders in the university and in the college of engineering.
American Legion Post 22 of Marion has selected Bill Hoch, Rick Richmond, Kevin Wilson, and Doug Heerey as their delegates to Boys' State. Alternates delegates are Barry Allen and Chuck Gough.
Jerome Eugene Nowak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nowak, has enlisted in the delayed enlistment program (DEP) in the U.S. Air Force, pending regular enlistment in active duty Air Force.
Charles Schmidtberger, area game protector, says fisherman have been successful catching white bass in the old river channel area northwest of the Brudertal Road.
