The circus is coming and will bring a variety of wild animals that have never previously trod the soils of the area. The five-ring show will be held May 10 at Marion Municipal Airport. Animals featured include 22 Indian elephants, 3 African elephants, 2 Arabian camels, 1 hippopotamus, 2 South American lamas, 2 Australian emu, 2 Sicilian donkeys, 8 Nubian lions, 5 Bengal tigers, 2 leopards, 1 yak, 2 Argentine rheas, 2 Canadian black bears, 5 African pygmy goats, 2 Peruvian guanacos, 1 white fallow deer, 2 African zebras, and 1 hyena.
Jackie Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Robinson of Florence, graduated recently from Bown Mackie College, Salina, and has been working for a free-lance court reporting firm at Wichita. Since taking the state test a few weeks ago, she now can accept a regular job.
First Federal Savings of Marion sponsored an Easter contest for members of the children's savings club. Some of the winners from the Marion area were Reena Ruthloff, Kristi and Brendan Kraus, Dean Snelling, Michelle and Bradley Druse, Bryan Berry, Karen Sellers, Angela Bezdek, Kelly Kelsey, Angela and Dwayne Helmer, Tamara Stenzel, Anthony Heidel, and Jill Those.
Simon Schmidt of Schmidt Studio, Goessel, had four photographs accepted for exhibition at the Professional Photographers of Oklahoma convention last week in Oklahoma City. Three of the photos were of Marion people. One photo was of Tami Robertson, another of Mike Fruechting, and the other of Lori Harris, Molly Ferrell, Beverly Bezdek, and Cindy Moody.
Ten Avon representatives made a trip to Kansas City Thursday to visit the company plant there. After a tour of the plant, they were guests at a luncheon. Making the trip from Marion and surrounding districts were Marlene Bernhardt, Wanda Hamm, Bonnie Schmidt, Joan McKean, Pearl Thies, Cindy Jirak, Nancy Soyez, Darlene Loewen, Darlena Baker, and Joyce Olsen.
