Marion High School class of 1978 participated in that institution's 94th commencement exercise Tuesday evening in Marion Gymnasium. William Kroupa was designated as valedictorian of the class. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa. Barbara Costello, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Costello, was named salutatorian. The outstanding senior girl was Molly Ferrell, daughter of Pauline Ferrell, while the outstanding senior boy award went to Randy Just, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Just.
Brad Herbel and Ron Wineinger have been selected to participate in a National FFA Leadership Conference to be held June 5-13 in Washington, D.C.
Colonel Roger Hiebert of Marion will compete in the 1978 World Conference Auctioneer Championship contest to be held June 17 at Marshall, Mo. Hiebert is being sponsored by the El Dorado Livestock Auction Co. He is an auctioneer for that firm.
Mr. and Mrs. Rex Siebert and Mrs. Floyd Siebert drove to Manhattan Friday to attend graduation exercises at the college and see Ladd Siebert get his degree in veterinary medicine.
Pauline Schoneman was "star of the show" Thursday evening when she received her 50-year membership pin in the Order of Eastern Star. Twenty-five year pins were received by Ruth Fisher and Tabea Herdt.
A trip to Abilene May 16 concluded the year for Athena Study Club. Lunch was enjoyed at the Ranch House restaurant in Old Abilene.
Mrs. Lew Rothman, Marni and Samantha returned to their home in Sparkhill, N.Y., on Sunday after spending 10 days with the Tom Hett family and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rothman.
