A group of 30 men and women rode in 60+ buses Saturday to the Montgomery County site of "The Little House on the Prairie" made famous by Laura Ingalls Wilder in a series of books and popularized by Michael Landon in his television series by the same name. En route to the site, the buses stopped at several points of interest. Mrs. Ernest Meierhoff was in charge of the tour with Wilbur Razor and Homer Stiller doing the driving.

The deafening roar of over 300 motorcycles resounded through the streets of Florence Sunday afternoon as the city hosted the sixth annual Florence Grand Prix. The Grand Prix, sponsored by Flint Hills Bent Rims motorcycle club, is a 10 lap race around a 10 mile circuit that twists and turns through Florence and the surrounding countryside.

Seven new school records were set May 23 at Marion Elementary School's 13th annual Field Day. Record setting girls were: Cindi Woerz and Nancy Kline, 7.2 seconds, three-legged race; Lisa Hess, 6.9 seconds, 50-yard dash; Brenda Silhan, 4', high jump; Lora Wolf, 120', softball throw. Breaking records for the boys were: Mike Kelsey, 11'8", long jump and 4'1", high jump; and Kerry Kelsey, 12'9", long jump.

Two Marion County attorneys were nominated Wednesday to replace Marion County Magistrate Judge Henry F. Loveless, who resigned effective May 31. The position to be filled will be that of Marion County Associate District Judge. The nominees are Edwin G. Westerhaus of Marion and John Johnson of Hillsboro. Westerhaus and Johnson were selected from lawyers and laymen nominated by residents of the four-county district. It includes Geary, Morris, Marion, and Dickinson.
