Spooks had a play day at work Monday. Customers at Dean's IGA were greeted and assisted by Countess Dracula (Barbara Hunt), Frankenstein (Teresa Waner), and Ragged Ann (Donna Hajek). In their authentic-appearing costumes, they did not wait until dark for their Halloween tricks and treats!

Catherine N. Burkholder, a 1934 graduate of Marion High School, has been recognized and honored at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Burkholder's federal career began at the Quartermaster Depot in Chicago in World War II. After employment as an accountant in private industry, she began serving in 1959 as branch chief in accounting operations in the Office of the Army Surgeon General. She has been chief of accounting operations for the Health Services Command at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, since 1973.

Helen Jackson, daughter of Pat Jackson of Marion, will perform in an opera, "Suor Angelica" Nov. 18, 19, and 20 in Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Auditorium at Oklahoma City University.

Marion County Methodists will sing together Sunday night at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion, billed as a "Great Night of United Methodist Singing." Six United Methodist churches participating are Valley and Eastmoor of Marion, Florence, Hillsboro, Lincolnville, Lost Springs, and Youngtown.

Deb Enos, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Enos of Marion, is head cheerleader at McPherson College where she is a senior in elementary art education. She has been a candidate in the homecoming activities for the past three years, was an attendant her sophomore year, and a queen candidate the past two years.
