"Mary White," a television movie filmed in the Florence and Emporia areas in May, will be shown on ABC television at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18.

Sharon Vinduska, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vinduska of Marion, and Connie Kerbs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Kerbs of Tampa, have received recognition for outstanding achievement in career education at Brown Mackie College, Salina. Vinduska will graduate in the medical secretarial program and Kerbs in the court reporting program.

Produce Derby entrants this week included a giant turnip weighing about three pounds grown by Mrs. Kenneth Richter in her garden at Canada and a guinea bean, estimated at about three feet in height and weighing 15-20 pounds given to Ern Hett by Menno Harder. Harder said the bean was grown east of Emporia.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Thole were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jon Thole, Michelle, Jill, and Jennifer Friday evening for ice cream and cake in celebration of Michelle's 10th birthday.

Fourteen Tampa senior citizens took a tour this week to Emporia and Cottonwood Falls in the senior citizen bus. The trip included a visit to the taxidermy in the college building at Emporia and the Roniger Museum in Cottonwood Falls. Those enjoying the day were Mr. and Mrs. Ira Popp, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Frick, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Duggan, Elsie Vainer, Tillie Hein, Zona Keifer, Mrs. Ernest Meyer, Vlasta Srajer, Elsie Safarik, and Louise Bezdek.

A graphic sign drawn in the dirt on the side of Dennis Klenda's car was carried to the Nebraska state rally of American Agriculture in McCook over the weekend. There were over 200 tractors, combines, and trucks in the parade that preceded the meeting of concerned farmers. The sign stated "Just because we are dirt farmers, don't treat us like DIRT!!!"
