Enrollment is lagging in the Marion and Florence schools. Administrators believe there will be as many students as last year, but to date they have not been enrolled.
Selected for training at Keesler AFB. Miss., in the personnel field after completing basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas, is Airman Terri L. Robinson, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth E. Robinson of Florence.
Sandblasting the east side of the First Federal Savings building on the northwest corner of Main and Third streets lightened the old stone by several shades and made it look clean and new. The work was completed this week. The building joins a number of others in Marion that have received facelifts and rejuvenation through sandblasting in the past several years.
Louise Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hett, Marion, and Gail Whiteman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Whiteman, were married Aug. 6 in Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
Marian Vinduska, bride-elect of Randy Guapo, was guest of honor at a bridal shower held Aug. 14 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Kraft, Wichita. Hostesses were Nancy Kraft, Jeannie Vinduska, and Carol Wituk.
New basketball courts and tennis courts illustrate the Marion PRIDE organization's leadership in expanding the recreational facilities in the city. The courts also are excellent runways for sidewalk skating and skateboarding.
Marion Jaycees will sponsor flag football for boys and girls up through the sixth grade. Sign-up day will be Saturday. All games will be played Saturday mornings. All equipment will be furnished. Both boys and girls may participate.
