Farmers and ranchers from the Marion trade territory have been invited to another of the big steak feeds that have become so popular each fall during Farm-City Week.
St. Luke Hospital will observe its silver anniversary this Sunday with a celebration to be held at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Eastmoor United Methodist Church. The event is being organized and coordinated by the Hospital District Auxiliary, with Mrs. Homer Reinke in charge.
Marion High School senior Molly Ferrell, daughter of Pauline Ferrell, has been named to the Cottonwood Valley League all-star volleyball team. Kathy Beneke, Centre senior, was named to the second team. Lori Harris, Bev Bezdek, and Sandra Bridges of Marion and Lois Beneke and Gloria Pontious of Centre were among those selected for honorable mention.
St. Mark's CYO participated in the regional one-act play contest Friday night at St. Mary's, Newton. Donita Makovec won the award as "best actress." Other cast members were Kevin Jirak, Jamie Richmond, Bill Turk, Sherri Kelly, Jackie Richmond, and Bruce Winkler.
Basketball season is just a few days away. Seniors on the team are Brett O'Dell, Bill McGuire, Pat Loney, and Tim Vogel. Juniors are Casey Case, Barry Allen, Jeff Richmond, Doug Heerey, Rick Richmond, Jay Smith, Jerry Hett, Troy Bridges, Kevin Wilson, and Darin Helmer. Sophomores are Kevin McGahee, Randy Richmond, Devin Francis, Brian Allen, John Dyck, John Edwardson, Doug Webb, Rod Schmidt, and Joe Dvorak.
Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Helmer will be honored Sunday, Nov. 27, with a reception at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in observance of their 25th wedding anniversary. Hosts for the occasion will be their children and their families.
