A cartoon carnival is being sponsored again this year by KanzAton Junior Club. The ladies will hold the event at 7 p.m. Saturday at Marion Municipal Auditorium. A 50 cent admission will be charged for children who attend the showing of the films. A concession stand will be operated.
Rick Lange, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lange, was seven years old Nov. 20 and his mother and sister Sherry hosted a party for him on the 19th. Invited guests were Shawn Winter, Eric Kline, Greg Warnica, Mike, Tami, and Keith Ottensmeier, and Eric and Charlotte Thies. Games were played and the children enjoyed a clown birthday cake, ice cream, and Kool-Aid.
Randy Just, 5'8" 150-pound MHS senior, has been named to the all-CVL first team mythical league football squad. Selected for the second team were Doug Heerey, quarterback, a junior; Casey Case, halfback; junior; Randy Lespagnard, tackle; junior; Bret O'Dell, end, senior; and Jeff Richmond, linebacker, junior.
The annual skating party sponsored by the Knights of Columbus of Holy Redeemer Church, Tampa, was held Sunday afternoon at Salina. Boys attending were Monte Frantz, Kenny and Ronald Swinney, Rex Steiner, Dan Costello, Greg Jirak, Kerry Nickel, and Jarod Youk.
Terry L. Fruechting, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Fruechting of Marion, was recently elected to Gamma Sigma Delta, international honor society of agriculture. He is a student at Kansas State University.
Alan Steele, son of Staff Sergeant and Mrs. Albert Steele and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Amick, has been recognized for his superior athletic ability at Fort Knox, Ky. At the soccer banquet held Nov. 17, Alan received a trophy for being the best defensive player of the season.
