Dorothy Varenhorst, president of Coronado Country, hosted and presided at a meeting of the tourist promotion organization Wednesday at Kingfisher's Inn, Marion County Lake. The 33 delegates present represented 13 towns from Central Kansas.
Lester Henderson and Ron Widler will face each other in the April 6 city commission election in Marion. Henderson, the incumbent, filed his fee to run for re-election last week. Widler filed shortly before the deadline, Tuesday at noon.
Dr. Robert L. Novak of Lost Springs has been elected vice president of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association. He was selected at the annual meeting of that organization Jan. 11 in Topeka.
Vocational agriculture students from Marion County visited the state capitol in Topeka Jan. 18. They met with legislators at a noon luncheon and toured various state offices. Among those present were Matt Wineinger, Doug Kjellin, Daniel Bowers, Kathy Hayes and Brenda Ellis of Marion; Richard Drake, David Brandt and Robert Wedel of Goessel; and Delayne Herbel and Scott Buxman of Centre.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Richmond of rural Marion announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Janice Marie, to Bernard J. Waner, son of Geneva Waner of Florence and the late Ed Waner. The couple has chosen April 17 for their wedding date.
Six students from the area have been named to honor rolls at Emporia State University for the fall semester. Students listed include Gena G. Helmer and freshman, Bruce L. Winkler from Marion; senior Ronald P. Anderson, Burdick; junior Pamela J, Stucky, Burns; junior James H Gunnik and freshman Merle L. Brandt, Hillsboro.
Andy Ferrell, son of Polly Ferrell of Marion, was promoted to manager of the Pizza Hut at Great Bend beginning Jan. 1.
