Soldiers from the Army National Guard bridge platoon stationed at the Council Grove Armory took on the task of removing the old "Creamery Bridge" across Luta Creek during the past weekend. The bridge was damaged beyond reasonable repair several months ago when a farmer's grain truck crashed through the deck. The National Guard performed the task as a public service to the community. In time the city hopes to put a large tube and fill where the bridge was so Commercial Street can be reopened.
