Women representing the federated clubs of Marion gathered at Farmers and Drovers National Bank to make the initial $900 deposit in an account to finance drilling a well and constructing an underground watering system in East Park. An additional amount of over $4,000 is needed if the goal of $5,000 is to be reached and a number of fund-raisers is planned.

A goat spent 35 minutes Friday evening on Nanette Lowry's Volkswagen. The goat belongs to Marion plasterer Larry Loomis. Lowry had spotted the animal on South Third on her way home from work. She parked the car at her home and led the goat to Loomis' house two blocks away. But it followed her back and climbed atop the red "bug." Police officer Bob Soyez removed the animal before it nibbled off the roof.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Popp announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Joanne Louise, to David A. Loewen, son of Dr. and Mrs. Henry Loewen of Hillsboro. A June wedding is planned.

The program at the March 3 meeting of Neo Century Club was presented by Mrs. R.R. Melton, who gave a very interesting talk on her collection of designs for pie crust tops.

Doug Marler was the winner of a $250 gift certificate from Wylies in Hutchinson Monday morning when he solved the "Ellery Queen Mystery" on radio station KSKU-FM.

Three juniors at Marion High School have been selected as delegates to Girls State to be held June 18 to 22 on the KU campus. They are Gena Helmer, Jan Nuss, and Debbi Rittgers. Alternates are Joan Hiebert and Linda Williams.
