Progress reports at the Friday noon meeting of the Marion Chamber of Commerce included a report by Gerry Harris on physician recruitment and health care. Harris noted that Dr. Morton Diament, an American citizen from Scotland, is making arrangements to come to Marion to practice medicine.

Helen Goodsheller, former editor of the Marion Review, has suggested that Marionites stop calling the beautiful stream that goes through our town by such an ugly name. It's not Mud Creek, it's really Luta Creek. Mud Creek meanders down toward Marion from up Tampa way. At the north edge of the county seat, Mud creek joins Clear Creek, which flows from the northeast. When the two streams join, they become the Luta.

Randy Steinert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woody Steinert of Tampa, has been hired as a staff accountant by the prestigious firm of Elmer Fox, Westheimer and Co., certified public accountants at Wichita.

Jerilyn Zinn and Lois Beneke, two Centre High School Juniors, have been selected by the Howard Dickerson American Legion Auxiliary at Lost Springs as possible delegates to Girls State. Jerilyn Zinn was selected as the delegate and Lois Beneke as alternate.

Topping the list of Girl Scout Cookie salesmen this year are Ramona Zeller, Wendy Hett, Kelley Enos and Brenda Berg. Each girl sold more than 100 boxes in the campaign.

Florence Middle School students, to compete March 28 with their counterparts from the other four school districts in the County Spelling Bee, are Linda Robinson, Rochelle Mueller, Melissa Krispense.
