David Longhofer, who taught a photography class for eight years at Sylvan Grove public schools, will officially open "Sunshower Photography" sometime in mid — April in a studio at First and Main in the former Marion Creamery building. Construction and remodeling to the building began last month.

State Rep. Bill Novak (R-Lost Springs) will be the featured speaker at noon Friday at the monthly meeting of Marion Chamber of Commerce. He will speak on pending legislation which is likely to affect the business community.

On March 6, a supper was given by Martha Ottensmeier in honor of the birthday of her grandson, J.C. Schill. On March 8, J.C.'s mother, Anita Schill, carried out a surprise party in his honor. Guests were Shane Klein, Jason May, Marty Kramer, Keith Ottensmeier, Dwayne Stika, Jeff and Eric Soyez, Scott Dalrymple and J.C.'s brother Mike and sister Jodie.

Nancy Groneman, assistant professor of business at Emporia State university, has had a textbook, "Business Mathematics Using Electronic Calculators," published by Prentice-Hall. Groneman is a graduate of Centre High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Groneman of Lincolnville.

Members of Bill Shirley's "Celtics" received certificates for a free ice cream cone at Caryl's Dairy Palace as a reward for finishing first in elementary basketball league play. Pictured are Coach Shirley, Mark Raleigh, Chris Hett, Eric Pippin, and Chris Vinduska. A similar award from the Burger-Shake went to high school basketball "stars" Stan Williams, Monte Dalke, and Dan Horsch.

Robert Brock, 33, was hired last week by the Marion School Board to fill the principal's seat vacated by Lee Dalrymple who has served for two years.

Moffitt-Crandall Unit 372, American Legion Auxiliary, at Tampa will sponsor two delegates to Girls' State this year. They are Anita Kristek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Kristek of Tampa, and Linda Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Robinson of Florence. Linda is being sponsored by the Tampa unit but her expenses are being funded by Florence.
