Richard Harrington is the successful bidder to repair and re-roof the city clerk's office and library portion of Marion City Building. The contract was let Monday at the regular weekly meeting of the city commission.
If enough people show interest, Marion Ford dealer Gerry Harris will establish a franchise to sell satellite receiving earth stations at Marion. He plans an open house Friday and Saturday to demonstrate the options available when a person has his own earth station dish.
A team of eight men from the Kansas Fish and Game Commission are combing the dam at Marion Lake, hunting for eggs. On a good day they can collect over 100,000 in a small plastic bag. The egg hunt is part of an annual project designed to fortify the state's walleye population.
Arlene Stika, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis C. Stika Sr. of Lincolnville, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. She is a telecommunications specialist at Lindsey AFB in West Germany and a 1971 graduate of Centre High School.
Paula Loveless has been named 1982 Young Career Woman candidate by Marion Business and Professional Women's Club. A graduate of Wichita Practical Nursing School, she is employed as an LPN at St. Luke Hospital.
Prizes have been awarded in the essay contest sponsored by the Florence Women's Christian Temperance Union in the Florence Middle School. First prize in the 7th and 8th grade division was awarded to Laura Fischer; second prize to Karen Genandt; and third prize to Todd Krispense. First prize in the 6th grade division was awarded to Kristi Enos; second prize to Chris Vinduska; and third prize to Greg Tice.
Centre High School students Linda Albrecht and Jeannette Bentz, both of Lincolnville, served as pages for Rep. William R. Novak Thursday in the House of Representatives at Topeka.
Pancakes and whole hog sausage will be offered at Lynn's Farm Equipment Co. Thursday. This is the 19th year for the annual event. Jim Christensen, IH dealer, said "everybody is invited, come on out and enjoy pancakes on us."
