Marion Municipal Airport will get five new hangars. The city won't have to pay for constructing them and eventually they will belong to the airport. Newly appointed airport board chairman Stan Wood met with the city commission Monday afternoon to present a proposal that they accepted. Wood said he and three other men — Steve Moore, Jay Groves, and Don Rogers — have agreed to construct a five bay hangar building at the airport and will pay for construction. At the end of 30 years the building will belong to the city.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifton A. Ellis of Redding, Calif., announce the engagement of their daughter, Christine Suzanne, to Timothy Jon Zerger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben K. Zerger of Marion. The couple is planning a November wedding.

Centre High School students Teresa Cott and Jody Stuart served as pages for Senator Jerry Karr recently. Teresa is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cott of Lincolnville and Jody is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bernhardt of Lost Springs.

Matt Peterson, a third grader at Marion Elementary School, is one of the first area residents to report finding one of Weekly Reader's pen pal balloons. Peterson found a shredded pink balloon March 28 in a pasture three miles north of Florence. The balloon was sent by a youngster attending Claflin Grade School, about 15 miles northeast of Great Bend.

The "Singing Grannies" from Marion Senior Center visit Marion Manor and entertain residents with songs. Those participating include Natalie Wheeler, Alice Davies, Lydia Batt, Gladys Pfizenmaier, Dorotha Gutsch, Dola Meierhoff, Martha Ottensmeier, Florence Slocombe and Catherine Ensey.

The Steve Krispense family has a visitor. He's John van Schagen of The Netherlands and he's here to learn all about the American ways of farming and Kansas lifestyles. He will remain on the Krispense farm until September, then return home to the Netherlands where he will share his new experiences with others.

Parents of twins are planning a local organization. Called Twin Club, the first meeting will be April 26 at Valley United Methodist Church.
