About 70 Florence Middle School sixth grade students toured the construction site of the Wolf Creek nuclear reactor near Burlington. An hour lecture and a half-hour guided tour of Wolf creek had been expected, but students were required to remain on the bus due to restrictions required folllowing an accident which occurred two weeks before. Three former Navy nuclear power specialists rode the buses and fielded numerous questions from the students.
The Hillsboro Jaycees sponsored a talent contest last Monday evening at the Hillsboro High School. Corky Siebert was awarded a cash prize for first place for this performance on the piano and accordion. DuWayne Suffield of Lincolnville took second place.
Neo Century Club members enjoyed a dinner party at Carolyn's in Whitewater as their final meeting of the club year. Twenty-one members and one guest, Eva Sassenscheidt, enjoyed the meal. Miss Sassenscheidt provided the program, giving a talk about her home in Germany and her stay in Marion with the Harold Wiens family. She will be returning to Germany in July.
Robert T. Stephan, attorney general of Kansas, will be the commencement speaker at Marion High School graduation exercises at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Marion Gymnasium.
Patti Forsyth, bride-elect of Tom Thomas, was honored with a miscellaneous shower May 12 at the home of Mrs. E.D. Longhofer. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Charles Olson of Salina, Mrs. Dean Batt, Mrs. Wharton Hoch, Mrs. Leroy Burton and Mrs. Darold Longhofer.
Wedding vows were exchanged April 28 by Pamela Kay Vinduska, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Vinduska of Marion, and Galen W. Penner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Penner of Hillsboro.
Judy Nowak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nowak of Pilsen, has been selected as a delegate to Sunflower Girls State to be held June 10-17 at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. She will be sponsored by Moffitt-Crandall Unit 372 of American Legion Auxiliary, Tampa.
