It should be "tiddilating." Marion will become Tiddly Town USA this Saturday. It will be a day for the nimble-fingered, for the light-of-foot, for the bargain seeker and for the light-hearted. Tiddly Winks will be played and there will be shopping bargains, a slo-pitch softball tournament, and a square dance.

Two Goessel community residents were murdered at about 9 p.m. Tuesday and one person was injured when an estranged husband opened fire with a small caliber rifle. The dead were identified as the estranged wife and a part-time police officer, ambulance attendant and police judge, who accompanied the Goessel police officer to the scene. Injured was an unidentified friend said to be calling on the wife at the time.

Alice J. Gantz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Gantz, will graduate Friday from Stormont-Vail School of Nursing in Topeka. She is one of 57 professional nurses to complete a minimum of three years of study leading to the diploma.

A part of Marion High School since its construction, the stage and auditorium are being dismantled by Jost Construction Co. workers. The auditorium and stage will be remodeled this summer for a new library. The old library and office space will be expanded to build new administrative and counseling offices.

Pat Fox, a journalism senior at Wichita State University, has joined the staff of the Marion County Record for the summer months. A native of Colwich, he has been editor of the Sunflower at WSU for the past semester.

Members of the Centre High School track squad qualified and participated in the state track meet May 18 and 19 at Wichita State University. They were Jim Costello, David Mueller, Randy Hamm, Phil Peterson, Kevin Carlson, Mike Carlson, Larry Beneke, Stan Wyatt, Mark Jirak and Ed Klenda.

Robert W. Exline of Salina has completed a two-year term as chairman of the College of Engineering advisory council at Kansas State University. Exline is married to the former Mary Hannaford of Marion.
