Jangling spurs and the yippee-yi-yay of the frontier days will ring out through Marion Saturday when the Chamber of Commerce and the Marion Saddle Club combine to present "Western Days." The full day of downtown activities will be highlighted with the Western Days Parade and a jackpot rodeo offering over $500 in prizes.

Continental Trailways, Inc. will close its ticket and freight agency at the Marion Country Inn at the end of the month, according to Aaron Cruise, routing and scheduling representative at the firm's Dallas office. Instead of buying tickets at the Country Inn, Cruise said, customers will either pay the driver or ride until the bus pulls into the next ticket agency down the line.

A birthday party was held in the fellowship hall of the Christian church to celebrate the sixth birthday of Natalie Thies. Those enjoying games and a clown decorated birthday cake were Chad Genandt, Deana Hoffman, Brian Loomis, Kayleah May, Jon Padgham, Kay Lynn Summervill, the Rev. and Mrs. David Branson and Mrs. Wayne Thies, Thurston and Natalie.

A Sauble family reunion was held July 2, 3, and 4 at the Sauble Ranch at Cedar Point. Pat and Mary Sauble were hosts at the home that David Sauble had built in 1871. Assisting at the reunion were Wayne and Elizabeth Rogler of Matfield Green and Doris and Harry Easter of Bartlesville, Okla.. There were 99 fourth, fifth, and sixth generation Saubles present.

A bridal shower for Lori Hett, bride-elect of Doug Heerey, was held Sunday at the home of Mrs. Eugene Christensen. Hostesses were Mrs. J.B. Miesse, Mrs. Gary Carlson, Mrs. Jim Fruechting and Mrs. Christensen.

A group of 15 boys, aged 11 and 12, will represent Marion in the Abilene second annual Pizza Hut Pee Wee Invitational Tournament Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The boys selected to participate are: Larry McLain, Brad Tice, Greg Tice, Shane Holub, Mike Barnett, Chris Blackman, Jason Bina, Tony Manser, Mike Schill, Steve Waner, Chris Sprowls, Andy Waner, Dirk Kannady, Andy Hett, and Larry Dalrymple.
