Helen Stromberg of Florence had tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, and cantaloupe for sale at her table Saturday during farmer's market. Her pride and joy was a 10 pound cantaloupe she displayed, but which was not for sale. Several smaller ones sold, "
Grand opening festivities at The County Seat during the month of July were highlighted with a drawing July 29. Dorothy Lawrence was the recipient of the grand prize, a color television set. Delores Stika won second prize, a 9'x12' carpet. Third place went to Ruth Gound, who was given a $50 gift certificate. A $25 gift certificate was awarded to Mrs. Keith Nelson of Lincolnville. Four people received throw rugs, including Mrs. Frank Hagans, Fern Carter, Karl Zimmerman, and Mrs. Robert Brenzikofer of Florence.
The best news this week is the 1.10 inches of rain and cool weather.
Michael Bina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Bina of Marion, has received the Arrow of Light award, the highest rank in Cub Scouting. He qualified for all 15 activity badges while in Webelos. Only one percent of Webelos receive all 15 badges.
Renda Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Thompson, won in the category of poise and appearance, and was third runner-up at a recent Tri-County Junior Miss competition at Herington. Talent finalists included Melinda Collett of Marion.
