Greg Gamer, anchorman and executive news director of the Kansas State Network (KSN), will speak at the annual meeting of St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary Sept. 14.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Richmond and daughter Rhonda have purchased Conyers Flowers. They will be having a grand opening and open house soon. It will be combined with a Christmas display event.
Although it was a struggle, eight-year-old Denise Sellers and her five-year-old sister Julie still managed grins for the cameraman as they grasped a 15 1/4 pound cantaloupe grown in the Robert Sellers family garden at the home southwest of Florence.
Richard Johnson of Marion has been appointed supervisor of the Region V Drivers' License Division at Wichita. He and his wife Lois and their daughter will continue living in Marion.
Jenny Herzet celebrated her fifth birthday Friday when her mother, Mrs. Jim Herzet, invited her little friends to the park where they played games and enjoyed birthday cake and ice cream. Those enjoying the afternoon were Jenny, Timmy Makovec, Ann and Audrey McLinden, Garry Klose, Katrina and Becky Swan, Jerad Herzet, and Donna and Brenda Berg.
Jennifer Kreutziger, four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Kreutziger, had open heart surgery Aug. 22 at Wesley Medical Center. She came home Aug. 29 and is doing fine.
The annual Morning Star School picnic will be held Sept. 17 in the recreation hall at the Marion County Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Goentzel of Lehigh and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Goentzel of Hillsboro will be hosts. The Clarence Goentzels will show slides of their recent trip to Alaska.
Mary Jane Reznicek and Charles Warren Loewen received the sacrament of holy matrimony when they were united in marriage at 2 p.m. Aug. 12 in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen. Msgr. Arthur Tonne officiated at the ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. John Reznicek Sr. of Lost Springs and Mr. and Mrs. Leander Loewen of Hillsboro.
