It's homecoming once again at Marion High School and events are planned for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. There will be a parade Thursday night, the homecoming queen will be crowned Friday night at half-time of the game between Marion and Centre, and there will be a dance Saturday night in Marion Gymnasium. Homecoming queen candidates are Donna Stovall, Renda Thompson, and Jandee Smith.
Eighty-five boys and girls participated in the 13th annual Punt, Pass, and Kick contest held Saturday afternoon at Marion Stadium. First, second, and third place winners are as follows: age 8 — Jeff Pankratz, Lincolnville; Jerry Schmidt, Peabody; Randy Winter, Peabody; age 9 — David Hett, Marion; Corey Smith, Lost Springs; David Pickens, Peabody; age 10 — Robert Ecklund, Herington; Todd Bevan, Lost Springs; Jay Pankratz, Lincolnville; age 11 — James Riffel, Tampa, Ernie Davis Jr., Peabody; Brent Windsor, Peabody; age 12 — Jayson Hanschu, Ramona; Kerry Magathan, Marion; Hank Jirak, Lincolnville; age 13 — Jeff Riffel, Tampa; Shayne Davis, Peabody; Kerry Kelsey, Marion.
A party celebrating the eighth birthday of Charlotte Thies was held Friday evening. After games and fun the girls enjoyed a spaghetti dinner. Those attending were Laci Brooks, Brook Dietrich, Sara Gough, Lilly Guerra, Shelly Moore, Alison Ogden, Robin Summervill, Jennifer Waner, Natalie Thies, and Charlotte's mother, Mrs. Wayne Thies.
Weddings printed in this week's issue are those of Gayle Hannaford and Michael Thomas who were married Sept. 23 at First United Presbyterian Church, and Kay Blackman and Charles Tajchman who were married Sept. 16 in St. Mark Catholic Church.
At the Oct. 2 meeting of 20th Century Club, Mrs. Norman Plenert showed slides and described her trip to Europe last May with the Emporia State University choir. Towns visited on the tour included Salzburg, Vienna, Venice, Interlaken, Munich, and Gruyere.
