A report circulated Monday by Marion County Treasurer Kathryn Schimpf shows that over $306,000 in taxes went uncollected in 1981. The report submitted before county commissioners Charles DeForest, Earl Mueller, and Harold Jost was not well received. The uncollected taxes represent about 4.5 percent of the total taxes levied in Marion County in 1981. The figure is the highest percentage of uncollected taxes in the county's history, Schimpf said. Railroads are responsible for the largest share of the uncollected taxes.
