A Tuesday morning fire at MarBowl Lanes, Weldon and Thorp, streets, Marion, resulted in serious fire and smoke damage to the west portion of the building.
Jack Webb of Marion has been named the "number one salesman of 1980" by The Lee Co., Salina, wholesale distributor with a sales force of 14 in Kansas and surrounding states.
The City Squares square dance club held its regular dance at 8 p.m. New Year's Day. Hosts for the evening were Dave and Doris Weibert and Ralph and Bertha Linnens. After an enjoyable evening of dancing, the outgoing president, Dave Weibert, introduced the following officers for 1981: Ralph and Bertha Linnens, president; Walter and Doris Floyd, vice president; Dean and Bettie Batt, treasurer; Charles and Elsie Winkley, secretary; and Max and Elizabeth Buck, publicity.
Martin and Helen Jantz had two grandchildren born this week. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bell of Kansas City are the parents of a daughter, Lindsey Lea, born Dec. 22 and Mike and Julie Jantz of Florence are the parents of a son, Tyler James, born Dec. 25.
Lorraine Hadsell gave an excellent lecture and slide presentation of her visit to the Holy Land at the Jan. 5 meeting of 20th Century Club. Vivien Conyers and Mary Costello were hostesses at the meeting which was held in the fellowship hall of Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
Betty Sanders was hostess at a come and go coffee at her home Monday morning in honor of her mother, Elizabeth Romeyk, and her aunt, Margaret Eberlein, who are visiting here from Islip, Long Island, N.Y.
