Marion Chamber of Commerce served over 500 farmers Monday at the annual Farm-City Week steak stag. More than 300 farmers stayed for the entertaining and inspirational after dinner program in Marion Municipal Auditorium, when country-western and gospel musician Bennie Holtsclaw was featured.

St. Luke Hospital has been recognized for a quarter of a century of continuous membership in the American Hospital Association. Albert Klenda, chairman of the board of directors of Marion County Hospital District No. 1, received a certificate of recognition from APHA calling attention to St. Luke Hospital's "devotion to our mutual ideal of service to the public through better hospital care."

Dr. Linda Loney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Loney of Marion, has become a fellow in pediatric nephrology at St. Louis Children's Hospital where she is a member of the staff. Dr. Loney is a specialist dealing with diseases of the kidneys in children.

A "come and go" shower from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 9 in the fellowship hall of Eastmoor United Methodist Church honored Khrista Van Buren Branson of Emporia, recent bride of Rick Branson. Hostesses were Mrs. S.R. Lundeman, Mrs. Eugene Christensen, Mrs. Gerald Kline, Mrs. Harold Wiens, Mrs. Harold Ewert, Mrs. A.J. Coe and Mrs. Harold Conyers.

Arlene (Mrs. Max) Smith of Albuquerque, N.M., sends a clipping to the Marion County Record from the Nov. 12 issue of the Albuquerque Journal telling of the famous quotation by Gov. E.W. Hoch, late publisher of the Record — "There's so much good in the worst of us and so much bad in the best of us, that it hardly behooves any of us to talk about the rest of us."

Nucleus of the 1978-79 CVL champion Marion Warriors basketball team consists of returning letterman Kevin Jirak, Greg Boyle, Brian Allen and Kevin McGahee. Senior class members on the team are Doug Webb, McGahee, Gary Ehrlich, John Dyck and Allen. Junior class members are Boyle, Nathan Smith, Aaron Hett, Jirak, Ty Branson, Dan Sherbert, Brad Vannocker and Carl Wolf.
