Workers from Smoky Hills Construction Co., began tearing down Luta Creek Bridge on Main Street in Marion this week as part of a replacement project. Traffic has been routed to the north of the bridge during construction. Engineers reported Monday that the project is proceeding on schedule.

The public is invited to an open house at Marion County Community Mental Health services from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The open house is in celebration of the relocation of the office to 504 South Roosevelt in Marion. The mental health services now rent the former office of Dr. T.C. Ensey on the grounds of St. Luke Hospital. The new location will assure a better integration of mental health services closer to the physical health services in the area.

The Strassburg community was shocked and saddened Thursday morning when news came of the sudden death of Dale Vogel.

More than 500 farmers will enjoy a steak dinner Monday night, compliments of their friends who are in business at Marion. The annual Farm-City Steak Feed is a highlight of each November. This year's program will feature the Marion High School select chorus, the Swing Singers, and the Aulne Young Men's Quartet.

Births announced in this issue include: Megan Renee Luna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Luna, Marion, born Nov. 4; Sarah Taylor, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jeffery Martin, Marion, born Nov. 10; Kathy Anne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Nystrom, Burns, born Nov. 11; and Merissa Dawn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Riggs, Florence, born Nov. 14.

The public is invited to a grand opening and open house of the Florence Medical Clinic Sunday afternoon. The clinic is now owned and operated by Marion County Hospital District No. 1, which also owns St. Luke Hospital and St. Luke Medical Clinic. The clinic was formerly owned and operated by Dr. John Slifer. He has retired from active practice and sold his interest at 603 Main Street to the hospital district.
