The first baby born at St. Luke Hospital this year is Grant Lee Bowers, first-born son of Norman and Pat Bowers of Marion. Grant was born at 11:39 p.m. Sunday. He weighed seven pounds two ounces and was 21 inches long.

Lucille Britain, Marion's city clerk, handed in her resignation at the regular city commission meeting Jan. 2. The resignation is effective April 19, giving the city three months to find a replacement for the appointive position.

The architectural firm of Kiene and Bradley, Topeka, has been hired to design a new clinic building at St. Luke Hospital. The clinic will provide office space for physicians. It is proposed that it will be located on the hospital grounds, south and west of the present emergency entrance.

Two three-generation givers were reported at the Dec. 7 visit of the American Red Cross Bloodmobile to Marion. Included were Mr. and Mrs. Morris Ehrlich, their daughter Donna Kelly, and her daughter Sherri, and Erna Mae Yeagley, her daughter Janet Bryant, and Janet's daughters Ann and Jan.

Randall Just of rural Marion, a sophomore in natural resource management, is spending two weeks along with other Kansas State University students in Wyoming studying winter recreation and management practices at several resorts and national parks.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schmidtberger of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter Lori Kay to Patrick C. Loney, son of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Loney of Marion. An August 9 wedding is planned at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen.

The 51st annual Tampa Alumni Association banquet was held Dec. 22 at the Catholic hall in Tampa. There were 139 in attendance. Glen Krebs served as master of ceremony. Officers elected for 1960 are: Richard Klenda, president; Mike Kleiber, vice president; Mrs. Terry Vinduska, secretary; and Mrs. Woody Steinert, treasurer.
