Representatives from Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company have donated an arson "sniffer" device to Marion County in hopes of aiding police and firemen with arson investigation. Researchers say the "sniffer" enables arson investigators to focus on particularly suspicious spots where a flammable liquid may have been used. The sniffer device was presented by Kansas Farm Bureau Insurance representatives Wayne Colle and Mike Mueller.

Senator Jerry Karr and Representative Bill Novak will be in Marion a week from Saturday to speak and to answer questions. The "coffee meeting" with legislators is sponsored by the legislative committee of the Marion Chamber of Commerce.

Brad Heerey has been hired as a staff accountant by Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company, Wichita. He will graduate from Emporia State University with a BSB degree in May. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heerey Jr., Marion.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Suderman of Hillsboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Becky, to Dale Nuss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Nuss of Marion. The couple is planning a May 30 wedding.

After 11 years of service, Alice Seibel retired as a clerk at Duckwall's. On Saturday, her last day at the store, she wore a corsage given to her by fellow employees and shared a special cake with friends and customers. The Duckwall's staff honored Seibel with a farewell dinner at Kingfisher's Inn last Wednesday night.
