Marion Cub Scouts celebrated 50 years of Cub Scouting in Marion Monday evening at a potluck dinner with their parents. Following the meal, Cubmaster Bob Brookens presented Bobcat badges to 7-year-olds Bill Davis, Bill Harris, Mike Helmer, Charles Smithhart, Chris Loveless, Dean Snelling, and Dustin Pippin. Eight-year-olds receiving Wolf badges were Bobby Bivans, Andy Hett, Rick Lange and Eric Thies.

KanzAton Federated Club, in coordination with PRIDE and other federated clubs of Marion, is planning a citywide auction as the first fund-raiser for the purpose of landscaping East Park.

Christine Laue, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sanders, was eight years old on Feb. 8. Due to the 14-inch snow that day, a birthday party was held Feb. 13. Christine's guests were her sister Carol, Denice Winter, Melissa Johnston, Jennifer McLain, Tina Holub, and Lucy and Lilly Guerra.

Brian Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Bowers of rural Marion, has been selected to receive the State Farmer Degree of the Kansas Association of FFA. The honor will be given at the state FFA Convention at Kansas State University in late May.

Four students from Marion will be among the 49 who will tour with the Tabor College band to Colorado from Tuesday through Sunday next week. They are Colene Wiebe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wiebe; Ann Christensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Christensen; Judy Richmond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Richmond; and Jarvis Seaman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Seaman.
