Jeff Martin, a family practice physician who graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine three years ago, has established his practice at the new St. Luke Medical Clinic in Marion. He was welcomed to the community by Dr. E.K. Schroeder and Dorothy Varenhorst and received his First Dollar of Profit from the Marion Chamber of Commerce representatives. Dr. David Jensen, who has established his dentistry practice in the clinic building was welcomed and presented his "first dollar" plaque by fellow dentist, Dr. E.K. Schroeder, and Bob Brooks.

Marion city crews covered Central Park with a dry fog Friday afternoon in an attempt to rid the area of mosquitoes. The effort was just in time for the Mud Creek Players' performance in the park that evening.

World Impact, a Los Angeles-based Christian youth organization, has opened a youth vocational center in southeastern Marion County. The 560-acre ranch will be used as a vocational and spiritual training center for teen-agers, according to Al Ewert, director of Wichita's World impact ministry.

Marion Vans, the 13- to 15-year-old girls team, took a long road to victory, but ended up winning their tournament.

For the third consecutive year, a young woman from Marion County is reigning as Kansas Shorthorn Queen. Annette Warkentine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin E. Warkentine of Burns, was crowned the 1981-82 Kansas Shorthorn Queen by retiring queen Jan Nuss of Marion.

Brangus cattle breeders from several states will visit Jim Donahue's Hayhook Ranch, northeast of Marion, during the inspection seminar being held there. Those attending the inspection seminar and field day at Donahue's ranch, will make the Emporia Holiday Inn their headquarters for the weekend.

The Durham High School Class of '64 had a class reunion Sunday evening at the Hillsboro park.
