Santa won't have to wax sled runners for his trip Sunday night — the eight-inch accumulation of snow that fell in Marion Thursday morning will help speed him on his way. Thursday's snow was the first of the season of any accumulation.

Bids of a new Municipal Power Plant building were opened Monday afternoon at the regular meeting of the Marion City Commission. Low bid was $112,851 and high bid was $161,320. No action was take in order that the commission might have time to get financial advice.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kline announce the engagement of their daughter, Sandra Sue, to Martin J. Bina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bina. The couple plans a February wedding.

Births reported this week at St. Luke Hospital included a daughter, Jo Ellen, born Dec. 16 to Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Vinduska of Marion, and a daughter, Sheryl Denise, born Dec. 20 to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tajchman Jr. of Ramona.

Children winning prizes at Thursday night's Christmas drawing were Terry Weigart, wood burning set; Angela Krause, pocket transistor radio; Tim Christensen, basketball and goal; and Donna Sherbert, doll and buggy.

Among some of the most beautiful displays of Christmas lights are the homes of Dr. and Mrs. T.C. Ensey, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Zerger, and the Spain Guest Home. Many homes and commercial buildings with lights look wonderful under the blanket of snow that came in time for Christmas.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Donahue entertained their employees with a Christmas dinner Sunday at the Brookville Hotel. Guests were Roy Flemming of Hillsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Brown of Hope, Linda Cary of Canton, Lloyd Meier of Durham, Ed Meisinger of Marion, Leonard Frantz, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Dirks, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Kaiser, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dirks, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carlson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Klein, Mr. and Mrs. Lonny Nickel, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Hamm, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bernhardt.
