Case & Son Insurance Agency, Marion's oldest business, will be one hundred years old Jan. 25. At this time they will hold an open house, inviting the public to drop in for a friendly visit to help them mark the end of their first century of business.

Operation "Big Switch" went into effect Sunday at the Marion Methodist Church getting ready to make way for the contractor who will start Feb. 1 on the nearly $100,000 renovation project.

Kevin Michael Burkholder was born at St. Luke Hospital Jan. 11. Kevin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Burkholder, weighed 9 pounds 2 ounces and has an older brother, Jeffrey, who is two years old.

Six Marion County farmers will receive Bankers Award plaques Jan. 25 at the annual Marion County Soil Conservation District meeting. They are Dennis Youk, Roger Richmond, Ed McGinness, Floyd Depler, Claud Noll, and D.H. Paul.

The Marion County Editors Association met Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Krause in Peabody before driving to Newton for dinner at the Ramada Inn. Editors and wives in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Clasen of Florence, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bruce of Hillsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Meyer of Marion, and the hosts.

Van's Clothing Store, owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Varenhorst, announced today that they will expand their store. They have rented the entire lower floor of the American Legion building and will expand into the space formerly occupied by Sanitary Market.
