Larry Jost, Marion farmer, was re-elected as chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation county committee again this year. Other officers elected were: Warren Fike, Ramona, vice chairman; Edmund Steiner, Lincolnville, regular member; and alternates Werner A. Mueller, Tampa, and Robert Geis, Durham.

Fifteen of the surviving 22 members of the MHS Class of 1917 were present Old Settlers' Day for the 50th anniversary of their graduation. Class members, their spouses, and guests enjoyed a banquet at the American Legion hall, served by members of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Lou Vinduska successfully planned and carried out a birthday surprise in honor of his wife, Ruby, when he asked a number of friends to join them for dinner Sunday at Kingfisher's Inn.

Mrs. Roger (Mary Ann) Kohls of Lincolnville announces the opening of a "School of Dance" for all in the Marion community. Classes will be offered in basic tap dancing, beginners baton twirling, and modern jazz. Adult classes in ballroom dancing will be included for those interested.

The Golden Years float was one of the winners at the parade in Marion Saturday. This is the seventh year for the organization to enter a float in the parade. Those riding on the float were Mr. and Mrs. William Vinduska of Pilsen and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Shields of Lincolnville. Both couples celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this past summer.

Two Marion High School band members, Mike Steinel and Jan Herrick, have been accepted to participate in the Wichita Youth Symphony.

Steiner Brothers of Durham lost about 700 bales of prairie hay when they were hit by lightning about midnight Friday night. The Durham fire truck went out. Volunteers saved another 3,000 bale stack due to the fact that there was a break between the two stacks.
