A gigantic step is being taken by the City of Marion this spring in bringing a $680,000 improvement to the electric generating and transmission facility for the community. Items to be included in the big power plant include an addition to the building, a new generator and engine, a complete new switchboard, new transformers, new substations, and new power transmission lines.
Richard Palmer, project engineer at the Marion Reservoir, announced today that impoundment of water will begin at 11 a.m. next Monday.
Tamara Case and Beverly Hoch of Marion have been named to attend Sunflower Girls' State at Lawrence in June. Alternates are Jan Herrick and Susan Hansen.
Brownie Scout Troop 64 had a valentine party last week at the Legion hall. Cadette Scouts who helped were Brenda Richmond and Shirley Hamm. Leaders are Mrs. Edward Costello and Mrs. Matthew Classen.
Seniors at Centre High School elected their class favorites this week. Those selected were: most beautiful, Jean Carlson; most handsome, John Fenske; neatest, Debbie Steinert and Mike Kleiber; most friendly, Virginia Ronsick and Bill Peterson; most carefree, Rose Alvarez and Mark Bezdek; most athletic, Kathy Holub and Kent Brunner; most service to school, Maureen Riffel and Wendell Christner; most intellectual, Marcia Bezdek and Tom Poppe; and most likely to succeed, Linda Fike and David Jacobson.
Mr. and Mrs. Anton Ottensmeier of Tampa were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klose and Garry in honor of Garry's 19th birthday. Elmer Ottensmeier and Mark were additional afternoon callers.
