The entire town spent most of the afternoon Tuesday watching the sandblaster, high above the Courthouse clock. From his precarious position he seemed oblivious to those on the ground, but his earthbound admirers held hearts in mouth with each step of his progress. The new clean face of the courthouse makes a person wonder "where the yellow went." It certainly couldn't be found in the backbone of the man doing the work.
Joe Endres and Billy Newlin, eighth grade students from Marion Elementary School won a blue ribbon last Friday at the Marion County Science Fair at Tabor College, Hillsboro. Their project demonstrated a color machine. Vincent Edmondson, Brad Hedstrom, and Jim Tiede, Lost Springs 7th and 8th graders, received a blue ribbon for their earthquake detector.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl F. Olsen of Marion announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Helen Louise, to John Reznicek Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Reznicek of Lost Springs. A June 14 wedding is planned.
Dennis Hamm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Hamm, celebrated his 10th birthday Sunday by inviting a number of boys to a skating party at El Dorado. Invited guests included Tim Zerger, Dart Henry, Jimmy Hoch, Terry Smith, Mark Ottensmeier, Mike Classen, Pat Kelly, Rocky Walker, Brook Beaston, Ricky Just, Lawrence Ford, Russell Hamm of Durham, and Kevin Hamm of El Dorado. Shirley Hamm and Brenda Richmond helped some of the boys learn to skate.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Carr, Marion, announce the birth of a daughter, Nancy Catherine, March 14 at St. Luke Hospital. Nancy has seven brothers and two sisters.
