Recent unification of the Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren churches brought about a merger in the two churches, but when the three churches got together in Marion for a summer session of Daily Vacation Bible School, it was found that there was some "doubling up" of another type. The roster for the school found five sets of twins enrolled. They are Loraine and Loreen Wiens, Jean and Jane Seibel, Ann and Jan Bryant, Koni and Karla Byram, and Denice and Douglas Helmer.
Boyce Baumgartner was medalist at the Marion Country Club flight tournament Sunday with a one under par 69. He also was winner of the championship flight. Winner of the first flight was Albert Bernhardt, winner of the second flight was Bob Fillip, Jack Beaston was winner of the third flight, and Albert Ollenberger was the winner of the fourth flight.
Mrs. Robert Jirak held a coffee Monday for her former classmates. Guests included Mrs. Glen Waltner of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Roland Vogel of Chanute, and Mrs. Tom Shirley, Mrs. Bill Burkholder, and Mrs. Jack Williams of Marion. Several local housewives also were present.
U.S. Department of Agriculture "length of service awards" were presented Monday to two Marion ASC committeemen and employees by Larry Jost, chairman of the Marion ASC County Committee. Among those receiving the award were Edmund Steiner, member of the county committee, and Edward W. McGinness, chief clerk, both with ten years of service.
