Sister Mary Magdalen, administrator at St. Luke Hospital, presented service pins to three employees Oct. 17 at an awards dinner served in the hospital cafeteria. Maude Firebaugh, who began work at the hospital the day after it opened, received an award for 15 years service. Ten year awards went to Mrs. Bill (Grace) Richmond and Mrs. Dale (Peggy) Conant.

During half-time ceremonies at the Marion-Peabody football game Friday, the 1967 homecoming queen will be announced. Candidates are Darlene Pecinovsky, Teresa Seifert, and Michelle Hett.

All six Marion boys placed Saturday in their divisions of the zone competition of the Ford Motor Company "Punt, Pass, and Kick" contest in Salina. Marc Smith and Ronnie Weber took 3rd in the 8- and 10-year-old categories; John Popp, 4th in 11-year-old; Bob Nelson and David Thompson, 5th in 12- and 13-year-old. Tim Zerger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Zerger of Marion, placed first in the 9-year-old category and will compete next Saturday in the district competition at Kansas City.

Mrs. Steve Stayton invited a number of little guests Oct. 18 to help Kim celebrate her second birthday. Those who enjoyed the party were Darla and Jamie Vogel, Marie Druse, Debbi Henry, Debbi and Brian Elliott, Kris and Kerry Kelsey, Leslie and Tracy Burkholder, Mike Schmidtberger, and Greg Boyle.

CN Byron McCarty Jr., United States Navy, left Sunday evening for San Bernardino, Calif., after being home on a 30-day leave. On Oct. 24, he left for DaNang, Vietnam, where he will be stationed with a fire fighting squad for 13 months.

Mary Schubert was crowned queen at the Centre homecoming football game Friday night. Her attendants were Rosalie Bentz, Virginia Ronsick, Karen Anderson, and Sandra Sturgis.
