Twenty-five years have elapsed since members of the Class of 1943 graduated from Marion High School. The former classmates held their first reunion July 6 in Marion Municipal Building.
Miss Roxanna Zerger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Zerger of Marion and the crowned queen of the 1967 Marion County Fair, will compete in the Miss Kansas contest July 18, 19, and 20 at Pratt. Judging at the Marion County Fair was based on both talent and beauty. Each finalist reigned as Queen of the Fair for a day. All three finalists were Marion girls, Helen Jackson, Barbara Christensen, and Roxanna.
Marion High School will present "My Fair Lady" Nov. 1 and 2 under the direction of Kenneth Forsyth. Recently selected lead players include Doug Westerhaus as Henry Higgins and Beverly Hoch as Eliza Doolittle. Others in the cast include George Coe, Mike Steinel, Bryce Ollenberger, Maurita Deines, Janice Jantz, Roxie Hague, Janet Hansen, Randall Schmidt, and Jim Darrow. Several minor parts have yet to be cast.
Little Chris Meierhoff, Art Meierhoff, and Clifford Hett celebrated their birthdays Saturday evening as guests of honor at a picnic in the Marion park. Those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hett, Alice, Louise, and Clifford, Mr. and Mrs. Thad Meierhoff and Chris, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hett and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Art Meierhoff.
Mary Beth Kjellin, a senior at Marion High School, left Friday to attend the 1968 national meeting of Future Homemakers of America to be held July 8 to 11 in Miami Beach, Fla.
Marion Junior Rifle Club held open competition shooting last week at its shooting range at the Marion County Lake. Rex Savage of Florence shot 96 out of a possible 100 to take top place, Leonard Schafers and Mike Ewert tied for second with 74. Eric Meyer was third with 72 and Terry Holt was fourth with 60.
