The people of Antelope now share a distinction with other and larger towns and cities across the United States: a ship of the Navy has been named after their town. The vessel was launched June 18, 1966, and currently is being outfitted by the Tacoma Boatbuilding Co. of Tacoma, Wash., as a PG class ship to be used for counter-insurgency patrol, blockade, and reconnaissance missions.

Pam Crofoot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Crofoot of Cedar Point, was crowned Tri-County Fair 4-H queen Friday evening in Herington. Pam is a member of the Jayhawk 4-H Club in Florence.

Miss Alice Kraus, bride-elect of Allen Trego, was honored Aug. 5 with a shower at St. Mark's Activity Center. Hostesses were Mrs. Louis Stika, Mrs. Wm. Schimpf, Mrs. John Smolik, Mrs. Albert Stroda, Mrs. Daniel Navrat, Mrs. Jerry Makovec, and Mrs. Vernon Waner.

Gene and Greg Bowers, Randy and Mark Collett, and Steve Matz camped out at Elk from Sunday until Tuesday afternoon. This was their fourth annual camp-out.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelsey of Marion are the parents of a son, Michael Dean, born Aug. 3 at St. Luke Hospital.

Youngsters representing Marion National Bank won the Pee Wee division crown. Team members are Tim Zerger, Terry Smith, Gary Hett, Darrin Helmer, Ron Ehrlich, Brook Beaston, Mike Robinson, Bob Robinson, Mike Classen, and Scott Miesse. Coaches were Jack Beaston, Matt Classen, and Reuben Zerger.

Players representing Jackson's Clothing and winning the Midget division were Chris McFadden, Chris Costello, Mike Edmunds, Jim Magathan, Jack Loomis. Roger Hannaford, Alfred Seibel, Bob Hett, George Hysong, Jim Richmond, and Jerry Conyers. This team was coached by Bob Edmunds and Kent Richmond.
