A "get acquainted" family-style picnic will be held in Marion's beautiful Central Park at 6 p.m. Sunday. The purpose of the picnic is to get acquainted with new teachers in the Marion school system and get re-acquainted with the ones who will return from last year. Everybody in the community is invited to attend.
Cub Scouts of Den 4 presented an American flag and pole set to Spain Guest home Saturday afternoon. The boys earned money for the project by collecting 4,944 Pepsi bottle caps and redeeming them in cash. Cubs in Den 4 are Brook Beaston, Greg Carlson, Mike Classen, David Colburn, Dart Henry, Jim Koslowsky, and Tim Zerger.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Sondergard will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary Sunday with an open house at their home in Ramona.
Pat Elling, bride-elect of Carl Elling Jr., was feted with a bridal shower Sunday afternoon in the basement of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Hostesses were Mrs. Jack Youk, Mrs. Lou Pegorsch, Mrs. Fern Bernhardt, Mrs. August Ollek, Mrs. Wilbert Rindt, and Mrs. Levern Ottensmeier.
Bob Unruh, Durham farmer, was rushed to the Goessel hospital Thursday after having been bitten on the arm by a rattlesnake while plowing on his farm west of Durham. Mr. Unruh returned home on Monday and is reported to be doing nicely.
Marion friends of Ronald Kelsey will be interested to hear of his change of duty assignment. He now is a security guard stationed at Da Nang air base and would very much enjoy hearing from his friends.
Sixty-five golfers took part in the Marion Invitational Golf Tournament Sunday at the Marion Country Club. Medalist of the first flight was Mike Wood. Other winners were Jay Stotts, Hillsboro, second flight; Bob Edmunds, third flight; Norman Mueller, fourth flight; and Vernon Slocombe, fifth flight.
